Humidification & humidity
control in printing
Paper is a natural material and very susceptible to changes in relative humidity.
If the atmosphere around printing presses and paper storage areas becomes dry, the paper's exposed edges will suffer dimensional change, causing it to curl.
Tight edges on reels can lead to web breaks and increase machine downtime.
A low humidity also increases static build-up, which can cause paper to stick together and not feed or stack correctly.
