High-performance desiccant rotor

The desiccant rotor consists of a honeycomb structure made of fibreglass, coated with highly hygroscopic silica gel. The flutes provide an enormous internal surface area, enabling efficient and effective moisture transfer. The rotor material is hygienic, non-flammable and non-respirable, and the rotors are largely maintenance-free.

The Condair DA Freezer features a 100 mm thick, AISI 304 stainless steel insulated casing. This robust construction minimises thermal bridges, protects sensitive components, and enables reliable operation down to –25 °C outside the cold storage area, preserving valuable storage space while ensuring energy-efficient performance.

What capacities and configurations are available for the Condair DA Freezer series?

The Condair DA Freezer series offers a wide range of capacities, with process air flows from 500 m³/h up to 4000 m³/h and regeneration air flows from 150 m³/h to 550 m³/h. There is no one size fits all solution for demanding freezer applications. Each unit must be individually configured, balancing airflow, rotor size and speed, regeneration power and control strategy to ensure optimal dehumidification performance and energy efficiency operation. The units are designed to operate reliably in temperatures down to -25 °C.

Why is dehumidification necessary in freezer storage facilities with the Condair DA Freezer?

In freezer storage, very cold air can hold only small amounts of moisture. Incoming humid air condenses as ice on products, floors, walls, and cooling equipment, causing operational hazards, equipment malfunctions, and reduced product quality. What must be considered when installing a Condair DA Freezer?

Process air ducts must be well insulated, and the dry air duct should have only minimal pressure drop to avoid excessive internal infiltration. Reactivation and wet air ducts must be sloped or fitted with condensate drains to prevent water accumulation. Motorized dampers, synchronized at the wet and reactivation air duct, should be installed to protect the unit from moisture ingress when idle. Improper installation or operation can lead to icing, which may reduce performance or damage the unit.
