Eine zu geringe Luftfeuchte erhöht die Gefahr von elektrostatischen Entladungen und Folgeschäden an Bauteilen und Geräten. Bei Frequentis in Wien gehört eine Direktraum-Befeuchtung seit 2008 zum ESD-Schutzprogramm. This observatory in the Spanish province of Guadalajara is the largest facility of its kind in Europe.
