Textile Manufacturing Humidity Control

Get advice on textile humidity control

Benefits

Correct humidity control during textile manufacturing improves quality, profitability and machine efficiency.

Improves profitability and high ROI

Humidification improves quality, productivity and thereby profitability. Production costs are minimised with a fast return on investment.

Prevent product weight loss

With humidification, product weight loss is minimised through enhanced moisture regain.

Reduces fibre shedding

Moisture added into the air of a textile factory reduces the amount of fibre shedding and maintains yarn strength throughout production.

Humidity control in textile manufacturing

Increase textile manufacturing profitability and fast payback

A low air humidity will dry out fibres. Maintaining the correct relative humidity will prevent moisture loss during textile processing and storage. As textiles are priced on weight and quality, optimising indoor conditions is a critical requirement. Controlling moisture loss with humidification can potentially minimise typical textile weight loss from ~4% to just 0.5%. The correct humidity will also minimise yarn breakages during the production process, which not only improves the quality of the final product, but also prevents machine downtime which is extremely costly. Combined, this very quickly provides a significant return on investment.

Close humidity control throughout a textile factory

The characteristics of the atmosphere across a production area can vary greatly depending on geographic location and seasonal fluctuations. Any change in temperature will impact on the relative humidity (RH). Hot spots on machinery will cause a localised drop in RH that can rapidly drive moisture off the product leading to fibre shedding, ends breaking and weight loss. To achieve a consistent level of humidity across areas that can be hundreds of metres long, it is important to have a humidification system with many points of moisture injection. Single 'spot' humidifiers that introduce a large amount of humidity from one unit (or only a small number of units) cannot maintain room humidity as evenly as a system with many controlled capacity outlets. Condair supports customers by developing solutions tailored specifically to the required specifications of their facilities.

Static control

Static build-up can cause reduced productivity and product quality due to fly attraction. Vapourising moisture into the air through humidification naturally dissipates static charges alleviating these problems.

Employee health and comfort

Humidification makes the factory a more pleasant place to work and keeps staff healthier. A cold water humidifier will provide the additional benefit of 680W of evaporative cooling for every 1kg of water absorbed by the air. Across a textile production area, this cooling effect can reduce the ambient temperature by between 5-12°C. This is a welcome improvement to the working conditions for staff in the area. Humidification also has the benefit of significantly reducing the amount of dust and fly particles in the air, as well as preventing the drying up of mucus membranes which act as a natural barrier to any remaining dust entering the lungs.

15 JetSpray humidification systems are maintaining an optimum 70%RH in the spinning and weaving areas of Ganges Jute Mill in Kolkota, West Bengal. With a total output of up to 9,000 litres of humidity per hour, the humidification system helps maintain jute product weight and quality as well as delivering evaporative cooling for the hard working mill staff.

AI Champdany Flax Mill

AI Champdany Industries Ltd, formerly known as The Champdany Jute Co Ltd, was established in 1873. In 2006 the Flax Linen Unit was started to produce 720 MT of Linen Yarn both wet spun and dry spun made out of imported flax fibre. The Condair Jetspray humidification system helps maintain linen product weight and quality as well as delivering evaporative cooling for the hard working mill staff.

Auro Weaving Mills

Auro Weaving Mills in Baddi, India, has installed a JetSpray humidification system from Condair to humidify its warping section. The humidifier is creating the ideal air humidity to reduce fibre shedding from the yarn and airborne fly, as well as maintain yarn moisture content and minimise yarn breakage during processing.Auro Weaving Mills is a unit of the Vardhman Group, which has 22 manufacturing facilities across India and employs more than 25,000 people. The Auro factory manufactures the highest quality fabric from its 288 airjet and produces over 388 lakh (38.8M) mtrs of fabric per year.

Loro Piana

Karan Textile

Karan Tekstil preferred the Condair brand to provide the ideal humidity level and high efficiency evaporative cooling in the production area of its new investment in Gaziantep Organized Industrial Area. Hygienic, efficient and very low energy consumption Condair HP atomizer humidifiers were used to cool the facility with heat recovery air handling units including direct and indirect cooling systems. In addition, ideal air humidity was maintained to reduce fiber shedding from the yarn and air fly, while maintaining the moisture content of the yarn and minimizing yarn breakage during processing.
