Condair's high pressure humidification provides maximum performance and peace-of-mind for outdoor evaporative cooling in high-profile public areas. One kilo of moisture evaporated from a humidifier will provide around 0.68kW of cooling to the air.

Condair's outdoor evaporative cooling systems incorporate a high pressure pump and water treatment station that feeds water to a network of nozzles. These nozzles can be located strategically, either exposed or hidden within facades of a building or structure. The lower the relative humidity is in an area, the more effective an evaporative cooling system will be in lowering the temperature. This is because more moisture can be absorbed by the air, with a correspondingly greater cooling effect.

Hygiene a guiding principle

When introducing aerosols into a public area, there is a responsibility to ensure there is no risk to human health. Microbes can grow in water, particularly in warm conditions and if left still. Evaporative cooling systems must incorporate robust features to control microbial growth. Condair humidifiers are designed and installed with hygienic operation as a central guiding principle. Automated flush and drain cycles ensure water cannot remain in the system to stagnate, even during periods of non-operation. Water filtration and sterilisation systems are also used to ensure the water being supplied to nozzles is clean and free of bacteria. Every system also comes with a detailed Hygiene Management Plan.

Every Condair evaporative cooling system is treated as a customer-specific project, tailored to the precise requirements of an application. A Condair sales engineer will work with a client’s design team to provide detailed calculations on potential cooling capacity. Among other elements, this process will take into account geography, historic weather data and the surrounding environment. This process helps to inform decisions on other architectural elements, such as canopies and shading. Possible layout designs are then produced, which will include information on integration with other components and installation options. Other elements included in the design process are water management planning to ensure hygienic performance and maintenance schedules for maximum longevity. Prophet's Mosque Medina, Saudi Arabia

Medina is the second most important pilgrimage site in Islam and is home to one of the largest mosques in the world. Millions of Muslims make an annual pilgrimage to the Saudi city, which is hot and dry all year round.

In the sun, the temperature often rises to 50°C. In order to provide visitors to the outdoor site with greater comfort and protection, large umbrellas have been erected to provide protection from the sun. There are a total of 250 sun umbrellas, with each one providing shade for an area of around 600 m².

Condair has designed, manufactured and supplied a sophisticated cooling system, that is integrated into existing shading umbrellas, and cools the air up to 10°C.

Direct room humidification can be used both for conditioning the room air and for process cooling. The automotive supplier HELLA in Recklinghausen makes use of the principle of adiabatic cooling with additional air humidification.
