Brandhorst Museum's art deserves perfect humidity
As one of Munich’s most colourful and vibrant contemporary art museums, the Brandhorst Museum showcases an outstanding private collection in a spectacular architectural envelope. Condair is proud to protect the priceless artworks and ensure visitor comfort with advanced Condair Dual hybrid humidification solutions that deliver precise, energy-efficient and hygienic climate control.
Maintaining stable and precisely controlled humidity is critical in a museum of this calibre, both to protect highly sensitive paintings, works on paper and mixed-media pieces from fluctuations in moisture, and to ensure visitor comfort. Condair DL hybrid humidifiers were selected for their proven hygienic performance and low energy consumption.
The Brandhorst Museum
Located in the heart of Munich’s renowned Kunstareal (Art Quarter) in Maxvorstadt, directly adjacent to the Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek and Pinakothek der Moderne, the Brandhorst Museum opened in May 2009 as a striking new addition to the city’s museum landscape. Designed by the Berlin- and London-based architecture practice Sauerbruch Hutton, the building is instantly recognisable by its façade of 36,000 vertically mounted ceramic louvres in 23 different colours that create a shimmering, ever-changing play of light and hue.
The museum was purpose-built to house the extraordinary private collection of modern and contemporary art assembled by heirs Anette Brandhorst and her late husband Udo Brandhorst. With 3,200 m² of exhibition space spread across three main levels and several mezzanine floors (total usable area 5,300 m²), it presents masterpieces by artists such as Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Damien Hirst, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Sigmar Polke.
The interior is characterised by a sophisticated sequence of spaces: the ground floor features intimate, interconnected smaller galleries, while the dramatically daylit upper floor contains two large top-lit halls – the largest measuring 450 m² with a ceiling height of 9 metres – ideal for monumental works and immersive installations.

Condair DL
The Condair DL is the next generation of the Condair Dual2, the world's most successful system for adiabatic humidification. Its hygienic credentials have proven successful in practice and were verified and certified by independent organisations with public responsibility.
Hybrid humidification relies exclusively on the advantages of atomisation and evaporation. This results in the sustainable resolution of key problems which can emerge when these technologies are used in isolation. The humidification system is therefore the first choice in terms of hygiene, energy-efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
