High pressure spray (in-room), Water treatment

Floor-standing devices not up-to-date

In the course of planning the new building, the museum also looked for new climate solutions: "For our sensitive graphics and caricatures, a constant, relative humidity of 55% is required to protect against cracks and breaks," explains research assistant Sandra Wiedemann. "In the old building," Wiedemann continues, "we used floor-standing evaporator units for many years, which had to be refilled daily with a watering can. This was very labourious, cost a lot of time and energy. In addition, there were frequent filter changes and expensive cleaning."

Easy to use

Since 2008, six DRAABE NanoFog humidifiers have been in operation in old and new buildings: The humidifiers are installed directly on the walls and distribute a fine, barely visible spray mist into the room air when required. The water supply is provided by a water treatment system connected to the building services, which is automatically replaced every six months together with other system elements. "We don't have to worry about anything now - that's a great relief compared to before. For us, the DRAABE air humidification system is the optimal solution," Sandra Wiedemann summarizes with satisfaction.

Condair in action

Projects and references

Columbus Museum of Modern Art, USA

The Columbus Museum of Art needed precise humidity control to protect priceless artworks and ensure visitor comfort. Condair installed its RS steam humidifiers, integrated with the museum™s HVAC system, delivering consistent humidity in the ideal 50¯Â±¯5¯% RH range. The system™s design allows rapid response to seasonal and daily fluctuations, ensuring paintings, sculptures, and historic artifacts are safeguarded against cracking, warping, or other moisture-related damage. Easy to operate and maintain, the RS units provide reliable, energy-efficient performance while blending unobtrusively into the museum™s infrastructure. By maintaining stable indoor humidity, Condair helps preserve the integrity of the collection, supports optimal conditions for visitors, and provides curators with confidence that their environment meets stringent conservation standards.

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

A nonprofit organization, SFMOMA holds an internationally recognized collection of modern and contemporary art and was the first museum on the West Coast devoted solely to 20th-century art. The museum's current collection includes over 29,000 works of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, design, and media arts.

British Museum, UK

The British Museum first opened its doors in 1759, and is now one of the largest and most important culture and history museums in the world. In 1850, it moved to a larger building that was specially built to house its ever-growing collection. At the center of the classically-designed building is a covered square, with the former British Library building at its center. The roof was designed by the English star architect Sir Norman Foster, and is made up of 3,312 glass panes arranged in pairs. They cover the entire square, which at 76,500 square feet is the largest covered public square in all of Europe. Condair steam humidifiers on each of the museum's three floors ensure an ideal indoor climate for visitors and exhibits alike.

ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, Aarhus

The Aarhus Art Museum was founded in 1859. After several relocations, an architectural competition was held with the support of Queen Margrethe II for a new building, which was won by the Danish architectural firm Schmid, Hammer, and Lassen. The cube-shaped building, with a floor area of 52 by 52 meters and a height of 42 meters, has nine floors with 17,700 square meters of exhibition space, which is primarily dedicated to contemporary art.

The building is recognizable from afar thanks to the œYour Rainbow Panorama, a circular walkway on the roof with a diameter of 52 meters that shines in all facets of the color spectrum. Hybrid humidifiers from Condair ensure comfortable room humidity and preserve the value of over 1,100 paintings, 400 sculptures, and installations.

VitraHaus, Weil am Rhein

Designer furniture manufacturer Vitra is showcasing its latest furniture collections in the spectacular VitraHaus, the newly built architectural and design highlight in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Visitors can discover classic and contemporary designer furniture, spread across four floors and 3,600 square meters. The VitraHaus will be used as both an exhibition area and a museum and will give visitors inspiration for their own homes. Steam humidifiers from Condair provide a constant supply of hygienic humidity.
