Frankfurt’s trade fair tower: A modern landmark enhanced by precise steam humidification

Frankfurt’s Trade Fair Tower is one of the city’s most striking landmarks. When it was completed in 1991, it was the tallest building in Europe at a height of 256.5 meters. It was designed by the architect Helmut Jahn in the style of the Art Decó skyscrapers of the 1930s. The facade is made of polished red granite and is intended to symbolise prosperity, creativity, and innovative spirit.

In the upper tower area, the cylindrical structure merges into a three-story pyramid. This pyramid top contains parts of the building services and is not accessible to tenants or the public. Condair’s ESCO series compressed steam distribution systems ensure precise and hygienic air humidification.

Condair ESCO humidification systems for existing steam set the standards. The key element is the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Association) certified steam connection unit. The functional elements are fully integrated into it, in a design that guarantees fault-free steam connection.

Costly seals and pipework are superfluous. Installation is calculable, quick and cost-effective. The modular steam distribution system with its patented steam nozzles needs no jacket heating. This effectively prevents unnecessary energy consumption even during downtimes. All seal points are included in the factory delivery. This simplifies the entire equipment installation significantly without running the risk of leaking pipe connections.

Bauhaus

The Bauhaus in Dessau is considered the home of modern 20th century architecture. The building was opened in 1926 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, together with the Bauhaus site in Weimar.First it was built as a university according to the plans of Walter Gropius. In the meantime it has become the headquarters of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. The design of the building, which for the first timerelied predominantly on steel and glass, had a lasting impact on the architecture of the last century.The focus is on the principles of functionalism combined with outstanding architectural quality. Apple Campus, Cupertino

Cupertino, California, located close to San Francisco, is home to the headquarters of American technology company Apple. The building was designed by British architect Norman Foster, who realized the idea of an oversized ring in connection with the former Apple Campus at Infinite Loop No. 1 in Cupertino.

At a diameter of almost half a kilometre (461 m), the building complex offers a gigantic usable area of 260,000 m2 and space for 12,000 employees. The ring contains a 130,000 m2 park with rest areas, cafés, sports facilities and a rainbow-coloured festival stage, which was inaugurated by Lady Gaga in 2018. Powered entirely by renewable energy,
the building features a 17-megawatt rooftop solar energy system and energy-efficient evaporative cooling from Condair.

Das imposante Gebäude im Stil des Dekonstruktivismus ist Hauptsitz des Pharmaunternehmens Actelion Ltd und wurde von den Schweizer Stararchitekten Herzog de Meuron entworfen. Die balkenartige Architektur erstreckt sich über sechs Stockwerke und bietet ungewohnte Durch- und Ausblicke, Erholungszonen mit Höfen und Terrassen sowie eine moderne Arbeitsatmosphäre für 350 Mitarbeiter. Durch die dreidimensionale Stapelung der Fassade waren 1.500 Detailzeichnungen, 2.500 Tonnen Stahl und 3,8 Kilometer Fachwerkträger notwendig, um den statischen Lastabtrag zu realisieren. Für ein optimales Raumklima ist durch innovative Hybrid-Luftbefeuchter der Serie DL von Condair bestens gesorgt.
