New Production Site in Richmond, USA

Condair has established a new production facility in Richmond, Virginia, United States, marking a strategic move to enhance its proximity to customers and reinforce its position in the American market.

As a pioneer in humidification, dehumidification and evaporative cooling, the Swiss-based Condair Group aims to bolster its evaporative technologies business in North America. Recognizing the importance of customer proximity and supply chain efficiency in driving future growth, Condair has chosen Richmond, Virginia, as the location for its new production site.

The new 400,000 ft2 (37,000 m2) Richmond facility located on 57 Acres (23 hectare) is slated to commence operations at the onset of 2025, with an estimated employment of approximately 180 individuals. Furthermore, Condair plans to transfer its current production operations from Center, Texas, to Richmond by 2026.

Oliver Zimmermann, CEO of Condair Group, expressed confidence in the move, stating, "We are committed to being a reliable partner for our customers while also fostering our company's growth. The establishment of the Richmond site will not only bolster our production capabilities but also facilitate closer engagement with our clients, particularly in the data center sector. Together with our existing sites in Racine, Wisconsin, USA, and Ottawa, Canada, we are fortifying the Condair network to better serve our clientele across the continent."

Alongside these new features, the Condair RS still incorporates its unique scale management system that has made it so popular. A removeable tank sits underneath the boiling chamber, collecting the scale as it detaches from the heating elements during normal operation. In-house maintenance staff can routinely drain the system and empty the scale from this tank, without opening the main unit housing. This significantly prolongs the periods between major service visits and prevents on-site drainage problems from chunks of scale being sent to drain.

Other innovative features include a “cold-water pool” that prevents any blockages around the water inlet or drain outlet. The boiling chamber has a twin-wall design with the water inlet and drain outlet being situated in an area between these walls. The temperature of this area is kept low enough to prevent scale formation, thus eliminating any possibility of plumbing blockages due to limescale.

The Condair RS range offers comprehensive capacities with sizes to suit any project. Small single cylinder units start with a maximum output of 5kg/h, with double-cylinder models and master/slave configurations offering up to 160kg/h. Steam humidification can be delivered to a duct via a steam lance, as well as directly to a room with a top-mounted or remotely located blower pack.
