More quality and safety

BluePrint AG, based in Munich, demonstrates that growth in the printing industry is possible even in challenging economic times. With 160 employees today, the company has developed into one of the largest printing companies in the greater Munich area over the past 25 years. Its customer base in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland also includes multinational companies from the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. For BluePrint, the highest print quality and process reliability are just as essential to success as uncompromisingly meeting customer requirements. “In recent years, our customers have increasingly requested smaller and medium-sized runs in large format with increasing individualization,” says BluePrint CEO Gerhard Meier, explaining the additional investment in the Landa Nanography system.

Landa pays off

Since April 2021, BluePrint has been using Landa's Nanographic Printing® process with the Landa S10P. This innovative digital printing technology combines the performance of 70 x 100 offset printing with the versatility of digital printing. Nanography® enables a very large color gamut, excellent print results, and a high degree of customization, especially for small and medium runs. Compared to offset printing, print products in different materials can be produced more cost-effectively and individually with less setup time and waste. At the same time, CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 35 percent thanks to the economical ink application of nanography and efficient printing processes, among other things. “The Landa is therefore a perfect fit for our commitment to producing high-quality products in a sustainable manner,” emphasizes Gerhard Meier. BluePrint also applies these energy efficiency and sustainability requirements to the air humidification system used.

Protecting against electrostatic discharge

To ensure trouble-free paper running without electrostatic charges and consistently high print quality, the Landa printing press requires an optimal humidity level of around 45 percent. BluePrint AG has been using a high-pressure air humidification system from Condair Systems for this purpose since 2021. The Munich-based company was able to draw on a long-standing good partnership, confirms Erhard Sedlmeier, customer advisor at BluePrint: “We have had very good experiences with the DRAABE system and the service provided by Condair for the process water treatment of our offset printing machines.” The TurboFogNeo air humidification system is used in the Landa printing room. High-pressure pulsation atomizes the water to a microfine mist at a pressure of up to 70 bar, ensuring constant optimal humidity throughout the year.

Special service

Compared to other air humidification methods, high-pressure air humidification consumes up to 90 percent less energy. Hygienic and safe operation is ensured by specially treated water produced by the system's own reverse osmosis unit. The high-pressure pump and reverse osmosis system are installed in portable small containers, which are replaced every six months for servicing and can be provided within a few hours in the event of a malfunction. For Erhard Sedlmeier, this full-service maintenance concept is particularly important: "Condair Systems guarantees us absolute process reliability. We don't have to worry about maintenance or wait for customer service if something goes wrong. If there is a problem, I always get a solution over the phone." Certification according to VDI 6022 Sheet 6 with recurring on-site inspections of the system gives BluePrint the additional security of using a safe air humidification system at all times.

"With Condair Systems, we reliably guarantee optimal humidity, which ensures us more quality and standardization."

Projects and references

Airport Print Center (APC) der Fraport AG, Frankfurt (Germany)

Fraport AG's Airport Print Center (APC) has been using additional air humidification for two years. The optimal air humidity provides employees with a constantly pleasant indoor climate and prevents production disruptions during printing and postpress at the Frankfurt site.

Bischof&Klein GmbH&Co. KG, Konzell (Germany)

Less electrostatics, a targeted cooling effect and additional protection against virus transmission are the most important advantages of controlled humidity for Bischof + Klein. Since 2016, the plastics processing company in Konzell, Lower Bavaria, has been using direct room air humidification with high-pressure nozzles.

Heidelberg, USA

S+P Samson GmbH, Kissing (Germany)

With optimal humidity in both production and administration, S+P Samson has not only improved process reliability, but also increased satisfaction with the indoor climate. For both applications, direct room air humidification could be retrofitted into the existing building.
