Adiabatic cooling and humidification at Argelith
Compared to chillers and recirculating air fans, the adiabatic cooling effect of air humidification lowers the temperature in production with only a small amount of energy and at the same time binds dust.

High heat loads
Production at Argelith is carried out in automated roller furnaces in which the tiles are exposed to different temperature zones of up to 1,220 °C. "Temperatures of up to 40 °C in summer are a great burden for our employees," says Markus Aulbert, who is responsible for energy and environmental management. In order to protect the employees, Markus Aulbert looked for cooling solutions: "Recirculating air fans seemed to us to be ineffective enough for our heat loads. The expected energy costs and the necessary installation effort spoke against the use of chillers."

Into the air at high pressure
The Condair ML Flex air humidification system has been in use since 2020. The system is operated by a high-pressure pump and cools the ambient air via a nozzle string made of stainless steel. The individual positioning of the humidification system can reduce the heat loads and stresses on employees in a targeted manner. The energy costs are of little consequence for Markus Aulbert: "100 litres of water from this high-pressure nozzle humidification absorb around 70 kW of heat with only 0.6 kW of energy consumption. Adiabatic direct room air humidification is a manageable investment with a great effect," says Markus Aulbert, summarising his experience after three years.
