V-ZUG AG, Switzerland
Controlled Humidity at V-ZUG - SwitzerlandIn Zug, which is the heart of Switzerland, V-ZUG AG manufactures household appliances for kitchens and laundry rooms on a 61,683 m² site, using cutting-edge roduction technology and the highest precision — from raw materials to the finished product.
This premium Swiss quality is evident throughout the company, ensuring that V-ZUG appliances are exceptionally durable and reliable in operation.

Sustainability:
Part of V-ZUG‘s strategy compass Responsible business practices are not a trend for V-ZUG; they guide the ompany‘s daily decisions and operations. As a manufacturing company, V-ZUG has a dual impact on the environment:
they design appliances to be as efficient in use as possible, and they produce these appliances with maximum resource efficiency and minimal emissions. An example of this commitment can be seen in their approach to CO2 emissions:
prevent - reduce -offset. To support this, V-ZUG applies an internal CO2 levy, continuously funding projects that align with this goal and offseting any remaining emissions. Since 2020, VZUG has achieved carbon-neutral production.

Thanks to modern production systems, energy consumption has been sustainably reduced in recent years. The „Zephyr Hangar“ building at the Zug site houses a new sawtooth-roof structure that includes the pressing facility, where manufactured parts are also enameled. These production processes generate large amounts of waste heat, resulting in extremely dry indoor air, which in winter can drop to just 10% relative humidity. This presents a major challenge for the comfort of employees and the wood-intensive building, as the wooden structure requires a minimum humidity level of 30% RH. Additionally, this situation poses a significant challenge for sustainable cooling.

This is where Condair comes into play:
The solution involves Condair‘s high-pressure nozzle system, ML-FLEX, with 152 nozzles providing a net humidification capacity of approximately 280 liters per hour and a simultaneous, calculated evaporative cooling effect of 16 Kelvin, meaning the room air is sustainably cooled from around 38°C to approximately 22°C during the humidification process.
The entire Condair solution is supplied from a central, easily accessible location where the water treatment systems and high-pressure pump are installed. This central unit is connected to the atomizing nozzles through specialized high-pressure hoses and control lines. The chosen Condair ML-FLEX system was selected specifically for its ability to cover this large space of approximately 18,000 m³ effectively, evenly distributing an ultrafine mist with droplet sizes below 15 μm from its 152 nozzles. This setup ensures the preservation of the wooden structure.
Additional Benefit: Sustainable Evaporative Cooling
During planning and calculation, priority was given to humidification to help preserve the building’s structure and increase comfort for employees, especially during the winter months. However, an added benefit that was not as emphasized is the evaporative cooling during the summer. Through the evaporation of atomized water, the room air—significantly heated by summer sunlight and enamel process waste heat—is sustainably cooled, even with various heat recovery systems in place. This reduces the energy demand for traditional cooling systems and significantly lowers their operating hours.

Our aim is to prevent, reduce and offset CO2 emissions.

The ML Flex allows ultra fine water particles to be evaporated into the air using high pressure technology. The string line design of the Flex ensures full scaleability and customization. The ML Flex is applicable for both direct room or induct humidification. The stainless steel pipes and nozzles ensure top hygiene and long product lifetime.
