Patnership for more than 28 years

GRÄFE Print Finishing (GRÄFE) is a specialist in enhancing printed products. Founded in Bielefeld in 1928, the family-owned company has evolved over three generations from a traditional letterpress printing business into one of Germany's leading specialists in finishing technology. Today, the founder's grandsons, Frank and Christian Denninghoff, lead a team of over 35 employees. GRÄFE gives sophisticated printed materials the final, decisive touch on behalf of brand manufacturers, agencies, and printing companies.

The most important sectors are the food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods industries. "Together with our sister company, LEISSING Print Finishing (Landau), we cover the application of all finishing techniques. In Bielefeld, in addition to foil stamping, we specialize in cold foil transfer, which allows us to create the finest structures, gradients, and impressive metallic effects," explains Frank Denninghoff, highlighting the company's unique focus. On behalf of brand manufacturers, agencies, and printing companies, GRÄFE gives sophisticated printed products the final, decisive touch.

Working with the best

GRÄFE doesn't leave its customers to navigate the vast array of possibilities alone: From brainstorming and initial designs to production, clients receive professional support. This proactive customer focus, coupled with an uncompromising commitment to quality, is, according to Frank Denninghoff, the key to success: "The prerequisites for this are motivated, competent employees and, of course, ideal production conditions." The company has understood the role of the indoor climate for over 28 years, ever since its first humidification system was put into operation. With the Draabe Biosafe compressed air system, GRÄFE ensured standardized production conditions and consistent quality. Since then, electrostatic discharge, paper warping, and disruptions in the production process have been completely eliminated. "In addition, our employees benefit from the pleasant climate and the extra cooling provided by the direct humidification," emphasizes Frank Denninghoff, highlighting the motivating and performance-enhancing effect of humidity. Due to the company's steady growth, the Draabe humidification system was expanded several times and upgraded to energy-saving and more powerful high-pressure technology. "We like working with the best. The performance promise of the Draabe brand has never disappointed us, which is why we have successfully maintained this partnership for almost three decades," explains Frank Denninghoff, justifying the long-standing collaboration.

Service package crucial

When the expansion of the machinery in one production hall in 2018 generated additional heat loads, the need for additional cooling increased. As in the other halls, the adiabatic cooling effect of direct room humidification was to be used for this purpose. Since a different humidification system is in use at the sister company in Landau, GRÄFE decided to obtain comparative quotes from other manufacturers in addition to the Draabe system: “However, the decision to implement the expansion again with Condair Systems and the Draabe DI Flex high-pressure system was quickly made. Ultimately, we were convinced that Condair Systems not only has the expertise to skillfully meet our high quality requirements, but can also do so at competitive prices. A key factor in this was, among other things, the all-inclusive service package,” said Frank Denninghoff. “We want to have virtually nothing to worry about when it comes to humidification and the assurance that all hygiene and operational safety standards are met at all times.”

"We like to work with the best. The value proposition of the Draabe brand has never disappointed us, so we have been successfully managing this partnership for almost three decades."

Projects and references

Airport Print Center (APC) der Fraport AG, Frankfurt (Germany)

Fraport AG's Airport Print Center (APC) has been using additional air humidification for two years. The optimal air humidity provides employees with a constantly pleasant indoor climate and prevents production disruptions during printing and postpress at the Frankfurt site.

Bischof&Klein GmbH&Co. KG, Konzell (Germany)

Less electrostatics, a targeted cooling effect and additional protection against virus transmission are the most important advantages of controlled humidity for Bischof + Klein. Since 2016, the plastics processing company in Konzell, Lower Bavaria, has been using direct room air humidification with high-pressure nozzles.

BluePrint AG, München (Germany)

BluePrint AG is the first German commercial printing company to use a Landa Nanographic printing press. To protect against electrostatic charges, the company uses an energy-saving high-pressure nozzle air humidification system from Condair Systems.
